Pontiac Grand Am Performance
Car buyers especially the most meticulous ones are very hard to please let alone
be impressed. They are the kind of people who will look every detail and to mention
the performance of the car before giving a 'go' on a specific choice. And, many
of them were surprised after having to drive a Grand Am not expecting the performance
it gives. With the Grand Am model's constant engine modification, the power level
it has also increases the level of performance.

During the 80's edition of the Grand Am, engine is available at 2.5L 4 Cylinder
giving off 98 hp and this can give enough power as some said. Then, this changed
into a 2.4L that gives off 155-160 hp. Years passed by and still several changes
met the Grand Am engines. Throughout, the vehicle's engine changes and adds more
personality to the Grand Am's performance. As a review pointed out, "the performance
with turning, acceleration, balance, and suspension were really impressive though
it has its drawback allowing more air noise than expected."
Now, the latest version of the Grand Am really boast of high power performance.
Having a 3.4L V6 engine with Ram Air and Sequential Fuel Injection (SFI) that
develops 175 hp at 4800 rpm with 205 lb.ft. of torque at 4000 rpm did quite a
lot. The SFI is a high-precision fuel injection system that delivers fuel, sequentially,
to each individual cylinder when it is needed for combustion at a precise time.
This helps provide smooth engine operation, maintain a balance of power and a
balance of fuel economy.
While the SFI balances the power and fuel economy, the Grand Am model's new traction
control on the other hand reduces engine power and modulates the brakes to help
reduce wheel slip during acceleration on many surfaces. Judging the innovations
the Grand Am engines undergone, surely it worth a place in the competition around
the whole-wide car market.
