2001 Pontiac Grand Am
Constant changes take place almost every year with the Grand Am models. This
year, Pontiac Grand Am has come out with a revised sound system, which included
an 8-speaker Monsoon unit with CD/cassette and 7-band equalizer. Another feature
it carries are the installment of the lower anchor for rear child seats and the
restyling of wheels. Also, the midrange SE2 version was dropped. This year's Grand
Am comes with a standard features including power door locks, daytime running
lights and fog lamps carried from the 2000 model and a tilt steering column in
addition.

The Grand Am 2000's optional equipment has an additional Solid Appearance Package
that comes equipped with a 16-inch aluminum wheels, radio with CD player and cassette,
a new 8-speaker Monsoon sound system, and a sunroof. The 2001 Grand Am has a larger
wheelbase of 107.0" as compared to the 90's 103" and an increased curb weight
of 3,116 lbs and cargo capacity of 14 cu. ft. For this year'€™s recall, vehicles
with problems in manual transmission powertrain, exterior lighting and equipments
such as service and other manual were primarily involved.
Exterior lighting problems caused by rapid temperature transitions and soldering
process have cracked solder joints. This caused problem in turn signals, making
it inoperative and increasing risk of accidents. The dealers replaced the inoperative
switch of the vehicles. The remaining two defects involved problems dealing with
the required standard. In turn, dealers will have to replaced it with the right
one to avoid misleading buyers and accidents to be precise.
