Unlike the 1991 model, the 1992 Grand Am now comes with a standard ABS brakes. It also comes with the optional features that the 1991 models has such as air conditioning system, cruise/speed control, a defroster and an AM/FM radio with cassette. But they had added more optional features for the consumers to choose from. This year's model goes with the optional power windows, a power driver seats and a power steering. The radio option also has been improved into having a CD. It still carries its 3-speed automatic transmission.

 

It also comes out with the choice of a 2.3 L 4 Cylinder 160 hp gas engine and the 3.3 L 6 Cylinder 160 hp gas engine.Like the 1991 Grand Am, the 1992 has a wheelbase of 103.4? but it has an increased overall length of 186.9" from the other's 180.1", it also has an increased curb weight of 2,777 lbs to last year's 2,630 lbs, its cargo capacity is increased by .2 cu. ft. from last year's 30, and '92 still has a standard seating capacity of 5. In the 1992 Grand Am edition, vehicles with the recall numbers 92V106000, 91V204000 and 91V182000 have been recalled due to defects involving fuel system, rear axle and interior system respectively.
